A Short Description of Pandas

Panda Bears have also come to be popularly known as Giant Pandas, they are the only unique species found in China and are characterized by their remarkable black-and-white coat. They are essentially herbivorous, and their diet comprises mostly bamboo. Sometimes, they also feed on other plant matter or small animals. They are calm and easily become mascots and symbols of red lamp conservation, mainly because they are endangered now. They live in mountainous regions, dependent on dense bamboo forests for residence and food. Their population has been slowly recovering well because of concerted conservation but remains vulnerable due to habitat loss.

Unique Features

The mountain regions of China are home to panda bears; black-and-white pelage is the feature, while their diet is very peculiar and differs much from other bears. These are mainly bamboo eaters, with 99% of their diet being tough plant. For this very purpose, they have powerful jaws and teeth grinders adapted to crush bamboo stalks. Although this list is indicative of the items on their herbivorous diet, the peculiar aspect of their diet is the carnivorous digestive system of a panda, commonly known to consume bamboo plants. Other characteristics that make pandas rather well-known are their having a solitary lifestyle and, at times, playful, clumsy behavior, making them endearing emblems for the conservation of wildlife.
